About Us

No Girl Walks Alone started simple. A few women met up to walk, spend time outside, and meet new people. That little ritual turned into a standing Wednesday tradition at 6:30 PM. Same place. Same time. Week after week. No pressure or performance. Just showing up as you are and letting something real unfold.

Over time, we learned the tradition isn’t really about the exercise. It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone and feeling the reward of trying something new. It’s hearing someone talk about the same things you’re moving through. It’s the connections that happen naturally. It’s the rhythm of a weekly tradition. And it’s proof that showing up exactly as you are is enough.

Austin hums with its own kind of magic. The community and creativity that already live here make it easy for a simple walk to become something meaningful. No Girl Walks Alone moves in sync with that energy. The city brings people together naturally but we just give it a meeting time.

If you’ve been craving something real, a reason to step outside and meet people who get it, this is your sign. Come walk with us.

“a feeling in my gut that I wasn’t the only one needing community.”

To understand where No Girl Walks Alone began, let’s rewind to July 2022. I had just moved to Austin from Oxford, Mississippi. I felt a pull to start a new chapter, so I packed up my life and drove to Texas — not totally sure what was ahead. And even though Austin had its own kind of magic, I immediately felt the void of what I’d left behind.

If you’ve ever known Oxford, you know it’s a special place — rooted in tradition, full of heart, and carrying a small-town sense of belonging. The hardest part to leave was Baptiste Power Yoga, owned and run by the incredible Mary Morgan. The community she created inside those studio walls wasn’t just yoga. It was love, laughter, belonging. Everyone was seen and welcomed exactly as they were.

That essence became the seed for No Girl Walks Alone. With a background in public health and years of teaching group exercise, I knew I could build something meaningful. The studio gave me the inspiration. Austin gave me the space to try. I made an Instagram page, hoping maybe one person would show up. They did. And they kept showing up. Every Wednesday since.

Three years later, the magic still unfolds week after week. Becoming a nonprofit is more than a milestone — it’s a promise to keep growing the same spirit of belonging that started it all.

No Girl Walks Alone wouldn’t be what it is without the people who show up week after week, behind the scenes and beside one another. Our volunteers are the heartbeat of this community, turning ideas into action and helping every walk, event, and initiative come to life. We’re endlessly grateful for the time, care, and energy they pour into making this mission real.
